If you’re having trouble setting up custom web pages with errors in ASP.NET MVC, you’re not alone. Doing it right is surprisingly difficult, not helped by the idea that some errors are handled by ASP.NET and others by IIS.

Ideally (and I’m assuming some other frameworks/servers do) we could just set up our own error website in one place and certainly work regardless of how and where the actual error was thrown. Something like:

    Custom 404 error pages

If the resource does not really exist (be it static or even dynamic), we should return an HTTP 404 status code. Ideally, we should return something more convenient for most site visitors in bug logging, maybe give hints why the feed source might not exist, or provide a great option to reviewweb site.

For the purposes of this blog post, a small custom 404 page looks very mundane, but here you can see some good, realistic examples.

            404 Page Not Found

    404 Page Not Found

I deployed the new ASP.MVC net 5 computer software using the default template in Visual Studio. When I start the website and try to navigate to one non-existent resource e.g. /foo/bar, I get a standard ASP.NET 404 page with info after:

Server error in application "/".The resource can not be found.Description: HTTP 404. The searched method (or one of its possible dependencies) has been removed, its name has been changed, and it may be temporarily unavailable. Then compare the URL and make sure it's spelled correctly.Requested URL: /foo/barVersion Information: Microsoft .NET Framework version: 4.0.30319; ASP.NET version: 4.0.30319.33440

In this case, .NET MVC was throwing this error from ASP because it couldn’t find the perfect match controller and/or action.tvie that exactly matched the given URL.

To specify your own fan site with a 404 error, add the following to your web.config file at . Internet>:

I’ve fixed mode="On" so we can display custom error pages locally. Usually you only want to highlight them in production so you need to create mode="RemoteOnly".If

As a workaround, unprotect the worksheet to allow the macro to run. You can unprotect a sheet manually or use the Unprotect method in a macro.

Now I go to /foo/bar again and see the history error page.

However, the URL will be /foo/bar and not what I expected. Instead, ASP.Net redirected to /404.html?aspxerrorpath=/foo/bar. If I also check the HTTP response character code, it is 200 (OK).

What does it mean when you get a runtime error?

A runtime error is another software or hardware problem that prevents Internet Explorer from working properly. Runtime errors can occur when a website uses HTML code that does not match the functionality of the web browser. 10 days ago

This is really wrong. This not only misleads us returning a 200 response when there is no full resource, but also bad SEO. Practically, if the resource is not found at the specified URL, you should return a 404 error or a redirect – the new location where the resource was moved to. Fixed

To do this, we could change the default ASP.NET directed search behavior Pointing to a custom error page that overwrites the response:

Unfortunately, this does not make it any easier for us. Although the original URL remains, ASP.NET still returns a 200 response and provides our custom error page in plain text.

To fix the malformed content, we need to resubmit the ASP.NET page. So if you thought you’d never need to minify * with .Pages aspx again, I’m sorry to disappoint you.

After renaming the error to 404.aspx and updating the web.config correctly, the URL is saved and we get the correct content source (text/html) in the response.

HTTP is still getting a 200 response. This issue (and it exists) was agreed to by Microsoft, who then closed it and offered the next product – set the status code via your bug. So we need to add the following right at the top of 404.aspx:

    <% Response.StatusCode is 404 %>

Now we get the correct status URL, get , and our custom error page. All done, right?

When experts access a static product (eg foo.html), the URL or why doesn’t match our routing configuration (eg /foo/bar/foo/bar< /code> ) get the standard IIS 404 error page.

In the scenarios above, ASP.NET is bypassed and IIS is experimenting with requests. Even though you can return HttpNotFound() from your game controller actions, you will get the same direct result because MVC only sets the status code, not throws an exception. Let IIS do its thing.

In these cases, some of us have to set up custom error pages in IIS (note that this only works in IIS 7+). In the web.config file, add the following: :

    runtime error front desk

      Delete StatusCode="404"

How do I fix a runtime error?

Restart your computer.Update any program to the latest version.Completely uninstall the program, then reinstall it.Install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package.Use SFC scannow to repair corrupted Windows files.Run System Restore toYou return your computer device to an earlier state.

Similar to the errors generated by ASP.NET, I have set errorMode="Custom" so that we can test the error page in this area. Usually you wantDo not set this to errorMode="DetailedLocalOnly".

Also note that I'm again using an HTML page, not aspx. Ideally, you should always use simple audio files for your error pages. This way you will still be able to see your custom site error if something is wrong with ASP.NET.
